Posted - 03/06/2013 : 23:03:07 The French film Gribouille imported with what appears to be a Dutch title.

By the way, all the time now, I see Blah Blah, The titles becoming The Blah Blah, including many that I have changed back and then have been changed back again. Have we had a change of naming policy that I cannot see anywhere? I'd prefer the latter, but only if titles could still alphabetize disregarding it and only if it were retroactively applied for consistency to the thousands of others. Benj, as demonic seems to have identified above, is there someone else other than him, you and I amending titles?
The new import code doesn't presently move The, A, etc... to after the title so anything that causes an automatic reimport, such as getting the latest top 10 or a few other things may reset this. I guess the simple fix will be for me to sort the new import code. |

Posted - 06/05/2013 : 04:08:59 I spot titles every so often that have been swapped back to "The xyz" after I've edited them the other way around (I prefer "xyz, the", but mostly for consistency because that's how the overwhelming majority of the site is organised, and as you say the site doesn't ignore the initial "The" when alphabetising. It's a little frustrating doing the same ones over again every couple of months. Of course, re-importing a title changes the title to what the current IMDB title is, which might explain some of it rather than it being a specific title change. |

Once again an American film imported with a foreign-language title:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043352/
http://www.fwfr.com/film/?FID=49454
This is happening with some regularity.
By the way, this is in Salopian's Tarzan Aaa-aa-aa...acccolade. It doesn't belong. It is part of the Bomba the Jungle Boy series which has nothing to do with Tarzan ( except for having ex-'Boy' actor Johnny Sheffield playing Bomba). Darn good thing, too 'cuz Burroughs would have sued their loincloths off.
This was probably because of a foreign title containing Tarzan. However, I think I may also at one stage have decided to include Tarzan rip-offs too, which surely this is. I'l leave it there for now and make a final decision later. |

The title of this one should be Lonesome, not the Dutch title that imported.
This was a 1928 Universal production out of Hollywood, albeit with a Hungarian director.
EDIT: That was quick! Thanks. |

Posted - 04/11/2012 : 13:08:45 Yes, I agree. As a rule I thought we were aiming for British title variations across the site, with the exception of foreign titles which were released or better known in this country under their original titles (e.g. Amores Perros, L'Avventura, La Strada etc.)
Incidentally I didn't change Lemmy's two titles above either, so it's another editor at work. |

When was this suggested? I thought we agreed years ago to use the English titles (with the British ones having preference if they exist)...
That said, I don't come into the Fourum much these days, so title requests have almost always been applied before I see them. |

Sorted- thanks.
Looks like it didn't stick... I'm still getting the foreign titles.
Now it's there. Maybe I just needed to refresh.
Now I'm really confused. I changed the names *from* the English language titles *to* the foreign titles (mirroring IMDB as suggested).

English is good... it's my first language... in fact, it's my only language. |
