Seemed like this permutation was missing, so I thought I'd help out.

How 'bout them Winter Olympics? Pretty snazzy stuff, eh?

I also enjoyed the SNL spoof of Telemundo Olympics coverage: "You either finish building a ramp or you do not build it at all!"

What amazed me was how for most of the olympics it was colder at my home (in Central Texas) than it was on the ski slopes.

I applaud the athletes for a great effort and keeping it entertaining, but honestly if this were any other ski event it would have been cancelled due to weather. I cannot imagine going cross-country in 50 degree weather!

Hats off to them. Boo to NBC (I cannot stand most of their coverage but it's all we get). I have a lot of Canadian friends so I didn't mind too much that they won gold in Hockey

Go Canada Go.

Classic! I didn't realize it was the same guy!

The best part of the Sven Kramer incident (for those who missed it, he asked in visible disbelief "Are you stupid?" when a journalist asked him to tell her his name and event after winning gold. Apparently he's a big celebrity in the Netherlands and he was acting like the rest of the world is supposed to care or something) was a week later, when he blew his chance at a second gold AND a world record by making a silly lane violation (his coach's fault, but still) and later shoving a volunteer. The moment of schadenfreude was delightful (and somewhat unlike me) when I was able to shout at the fuming Dutchman on the TV: "ARE YOU STUPID?"

Go Canada Go.

I have to agree, most of those sideline reporters are stupid. All I heard them talking about regarding Shaun White was "Why doesn't he want to called the Flying Tomato anymore? Well, duh, would you want to be called after a third rate pizza chain??

Unfortunately the video's been taken down (something about the IOC complaining about a copyright infringement), but the text is still there and explains what it's all about. Presumably the IOC won't be running it on their site, which is a pity.

I too really enjoyed the Games. Not so much the conventional skiiing events (partly because they were often shrouded in mist) but the ski cross was entertaining, the women's figure skating poignant and exquisite, the skeleton bob (and anything else on that track) scary, and the curling strangely compelling. Do we really have to wait four years for the next one?

Oh and congratulations to Canada on the (ice) hockey gold. I thought at one point that the script had been written in Hollywood, and that after scoring with 24 seconds to spare the USA would go on to win, but that final goal in overtime was a cracker.

Well done to Canada. I really love the main Olympics, and couldn't get into these by comparison, but it seems like they were well run and that everyone had a good time. People I know in Vancouver were constantly posting about them.

I'll always associate these Games with poor Andrew Koenig, though.

Well, Johnny Weir is snazzy, anyway. I cheered for Apolo Anton Ohno and Shaun White and Lindsay Vonn. Love the snowboarding and figure skating. Not so thrilled with Dick Button's snarky commentary. What? He's the only man who is entitled to win 2 Golds in figure skating? He's very snarky about athletes. Not thrilled.
