It is with a somewhat profound tinge of (?) of sadness that I leave my final wishes for this once promising young actor. He caught my attention in the film "Bully", where he and his cast members brought an air of realism to the real-life tale of Marty Puccio and his friends, who decided to kill their other friend, Bobby Kent, for being a bully.
This film was probably what most would consider marginal, but I found it oddly attractive, and probably because of the story and the fact that it was based fairly closely on real events. Brad gave an occluded dimension to Marty that was perfect for the role. The final courtroom scene and closing credits rolling to Fatboy Slim's "Takin' Bout My Baby"; it was haunting.
I remember reading sometime around the time I first saw the film that Brad was having drug and legal problems. I remember thinking that he had an immense raw talent that I hoped would protect him from himself.
Unlike the equally once-promising Lillo Brancato, Brad was seeking help for the war with his demons.
So rest in peace, Brad.

Incidentally, yeah, everyone check out "Bully" sometime. That's a good, good movie. I don't see how anyone could consider it marginal, that's a four-star classic there. |
