For some reason the original IMDB page for the Studio Ghibli sequel to "Porco Rosso" was deleted, and a new one created rather than the original being updated, even they are exactly the same production - so the page we have on FWFR for "Porco Rosso: The Last Sortie" is now out of date. The new film page "Porco Rosso 2" has just been added to our database.

Can the five reviews from me, Randall, Salopian, LadyMeerkat and AC here:

http://www.fwfr.com/film/?FID=42435#.UUo_TReeOSo

now be transferred over to here:

http://www.fwfr.com/film/?FID=59597#.UUpAExeeOSo

TIA!

Sorry. That was me. I was going to bring that to Benj's attention in the No Cast thread. I am still working through the P's yet. There is also another film in the thread with the same problem.

When a film has a missing IMDB I try to search for the movie to make sure it doesn't have a new link. That's why it has taken so long. Just wanted to let you guys know every effort to save reviews is being made. Since this problem is put to light

And we are VERY grateful for your sterling efforts!

There's also a related problem you may want to consider. If I search for film titles from the old site, I often find the request produces a "no film found" message. Yet I can easily get to the fwfr page by putting the imdb url into the search box. This doesn't seem to happen on the new site. Weird, and somewhat annoying.

The reason I search on the old site is usually because I want to post up a review [for TA:MOU] - and the new site doesn't recognise my unique user i.d. except to display my list page.

There are certainly some related glitches here. I suspect a fix would involve a lot of benj's time, but I HOPE he might get to this someday ... He's still my hero!

I go from the list Benj has already made to show me the films with no cast. So I already I go from there. Then when I get to the FWFR review site I then click on the IMDB link and if it it says it is not found, I then search IMDB for the movie in other ways. So you see, I am not searching for missing FWFR reviewed movies.

When I click on the IMDB link and i discover that it now has a cast, I enter the IMDB into the add movie link and that is how the movie is updated.

Ditto! Of course, one down side is movies that have been abandoned for good means some of us are losing well voted reviews... but that's the way it's got to go when those films don't exist any more, of course.

It's a bit stranger that when a film is knocked out of our database the respective reviews are "lost" rather than added to the decline pile, as they used to be. I've only recently noticed several reviews I've lost when visiting the old site - it would be useful, if it's possible with the new set-up, if Benj could fix it so that we could see when our reviews get removed from the site.

One issue you may be facing when searching for films Baffy is something I've noticed in my searches - the search box is really not very useful sometimes, as much as I love being able to search reviews and artists. You'll have noticed it often only finds the film you are typing in when you have finished typing the word, and not start delivering the closest matches from the initial couple of letters, for example "Memento" only appears once you've finished typing the whole word, and if you hit return and start searching before that - at "Mem" or "Meme" it won't recognise anything in the database that will fit. In the same example it's impossible to bring up a film like "M" in the search box. This is an oddity when considering plurals or compound words as well - searching for "bird" for example will only bring up the films that contain that word, but not "birds" or "birdy" or "birdemic".

Finally, and possibly relevant to your failed searches - typing in something like "The Matrix" won't provide you a result, but "Matrix" will because in another quirk it doesn't recognise "The Matrix" only "Matrix, The" (the correct format for the database as it doesn't automatically discount "The" in alphabetical listings as it should).

I've relatively recently seen reviews of this category (for the Srinivasa Ramanujan film, which I noticed quite a while ago had gone but didn't want to lose the reviews for ), so it may be an old site (which I still use) v. new site thing, i.e. they may just not be displayed in your new-site list -- check your old one and see. It would still be better to show them on the new site but hopefully they may not be lost.

Yes, that's right - as I said I only noticed the reviews had gone when I visited the old site and saw them in the decline list. It's a bit of coding that would be useful on the new site too.

Ah yes, I hadn't read your post carefully -- your use of the word lost confused me!

Not sure how this one came about, but I spotted a duplicate film entry in our database:

One of the Him films here needs to be deleted and its reviews moved to the Her film.
