The wait for a new Winner's Gallery is nearly over, I'm finally getting off of my cheese bloated ass and making one myself. While I'm getting it together I've been reviewing the history of the av contest and all the winners and I'm haunted by the few that I'm missing.

One is a more recent one that I've already contacted Koli for, the others are ancient history that I'm trying to reconstruct. If any of you old timers can verify that I've found what we're looking for let me know.

1. Euphemistically Speaking - won by Fresno, according to the thread it represented Spanking the Monkey. I'm pretty sure this is it.

2. Clowns - won by Joss, his quote in the thread is, "Anyway you want clowns, here they come." I suspect it was animated, I don't know if it's accurate but it may have been this.

3. Scary Insects - won by Joss, quotes about it included, "Joss with his toilet scuttling spider", and, "You sure thats a spider? Or Just a running...........uh...you get the idea." Pretty sure it was this.

4. American Baseball - won by Downtown, supposed to be a painting of Joe DiMaggio, could it be this?

5. Secret Agents - won by Joss, quotes include, "If you ever wondered what Santa does on his 364 days off, here's the answer," and, "secret agents CAN have beards...Joss, with Bad Santa." I have no idea.

6. Favourite Toy - won by Joss, quotes include, "I've always loved video games, still do. Look there I am playing Mario," and, "Joss with his Nintendo playing video zombie kids." I have no idea.

Your feedback is appreciated!

Just the secret agents one to find now. I'll have to get my thinking cap on and try to remember what the avatar looked like. I'm sure it was some kind of agent sneaking down a chimney dressed as Santa, but I could be wrong.

I too was getting stymied using Google image searches, so I decided to just do a web search for sites offering video game gifs and voila!

Can't believe the gallery is almost complete!

Number 2 Clowns appears to be correct. The link takes me to a forbidden page but after some navigating around the main site I came across an animation of clowns pouring out of a car, this was the winning avatar.

Number 5 Secret Agents. I'll try my best but at the moment nothing, sorry.

Number 6 Favourite Toy. I'm trying every search imagineable to find this one on the internet, if I see it I will know it. It was a cartoon animation of one, maybe two kids in front of a TV playing Mario. The zombie reference is misleading I think that was said in reference to how I felt after several hours of video gaming.

1 out of 3 is a good start. StaLean PM'ed me yesterday also to vote for the clown car av as the correct one, so we're set there.

I've done some random searching for the video game av, I'll try some more.

Thanks Joss!

Great stuff, Cheese_Ed. I'll do what I can to oblige with the electoral college av. Drawn a blank so far, but I'll keep looking.

OK, the clues are these:
the contest was in April 2007;
the theme was 'College';
my winning entry was something to do with an electoral college;
my caption was: "It's all the rage these days: staying at home on election day."
I commented that I'd studied 678 images with the theme 'electoral college', including some very dull political cartoons...
but Brain of Britain here can't think what it looked like and hasn't yet found it.

I'm looking for suggestions for what it looked like, from someone with a better memory than mine.

Any assistance gratefully (and shamefully, of course) received.

College entered, Koli!

I am mightily impressed! The new gallery looks great, and I've just bookmarked it.

Normally I would just go to the www.fwiffer.com resevoir but it doesn't go back that far. As I recall, at a certain point the whole database there got nuked and we started fresh. Maybe duh has a back up of the old data?

We still have the previous database I just haven't connected it to display pages. Send me a reminder tonite about that.

ETA: Cheese, you can view the archived avatars at http://fwiffer.com/fwfrarchive/

duh! That's awesome, thanks for digging College and the rest out for us.

While we're on the topic, could you update the link to the winners gallery at www.fwiffer.com to the new gallery

and how about a link to the fwiffer archive from that page as well?

Nice work, Cheese_Ed.

Thanks Chris! I didn't mean everybody needed to send me captions, I can figure/find most of them out, but I'll definitely add the ones you sent.
