I know it played in London before coming here [and I know his ROCK 'N ROLL is there now], but on Sat 2/24 Ms. Randall and I attended a marathon performance of all three on the same day at Lincoln Center, the first "marathon" of its US run. We are still gasping; a good night's sleep rejuvenated us after nine hours of theater with two meal breaks, adding up to twelve hours cab-to-cab. We bow to Stoppard and director Jack O'Brien. Also:
Brian F. O'Byrne rules! Ethan Hawke, Billy Crudup, Jennifer Ehle [who even doffed her duds for us! Thankee, ma'am!], Amy Irving and the rest of the cast were superior. Our only regret was that the sublime Richard Easton was not feeling well enough to perform this marathon [he's in each of the three plays].
Nineteenth-century Russian intellectuals for an entire day? Answer: YES!
Anybody else know what the hell I'm talking about? |

I really wish I did - I love Tom Stoppard's play. |
