- vanilla flavored vodka with orange juice tastes like a dreamsicle.

- Teddy KGB is one of the coolest movie characters of all time. "in my clup, i vill splesh the pot, venever the feck i please."

- last time i did this i bragged that my son was heading to college. now i'm not so sure about his direction. nothing criminal, he's working every day in the summer, but drive is lacking. then again how was i at 19?

- my back feels much better.

- since i discovered Booker's bourbon, everything else is like sex on a beach: fucking close to water.

- my mom is the most selfless person in the world. i know a lot of people think that about their mother, but nope. my mother is considerate to a fault.

- is a set of knives -- good fucking knives, that is, i'm talking kitchen shears, wooden storage block, bread knife, chef's knife, all that shit -- a good for-no-reason gift?

- i had a buddy in college who thought he could get away with saying the most offensive shit, just by adding, "i'm just sayin'," at the end. nobody ever beat his ass. i guess he was right. i'm just sayin'.

- the tv shows "Mythbusters" and "Bullshit" are priceless. or at least until the second season of "Dexter" begins.

- Prince's old stuff, particularly "Dirty Mind," was some of his best. but doesn't everybody say that (i like the old stuff) about their favorite artists? for my money, Sade is one of the most consistently moving performers. best concert i've ever seen. a few songs that move me: "Cold Feet" by Tracy Chapman, "We'll Meet Again" by Johnny Cash, "Souvenirs" by Bettye LaVette.

- Burger King's Texas Whopper

I have two boys and a girl. You are right to ask for a boy. They are so much easier.

Congratulations to your wife and ... considering your surprize, to the lucky father-to-be as well!

(Insert silly that-was-a-poor-joke smilie here.)

I think...

I am just thrilled that Terry Fator won America's Got Talent. He really did deserve it!!
w22dheartlivie Posted - 08/15/2007 : 02:30:18
I still think...

the ventriloquist singer - whose name is Terry Fator - is fabulous. Tonight, his turtle puppet dedicated a song to his ex-girlfriend, who broke up with him because he was moving too slow. The turtle did an impersonation of Roy Orbison, singing Crying. Just too, too wonderful. Here is a link to an earlier performance with the turtle.

I'm a little torn between Fator and singer Cas Haley, who is also a great talent. I expect that Haley will get a recording contract out of his appearance in any case.

The girl who calls herself Butterscotch is quite talented as well, though I'm not the world's greatest beat-box afficionado. I'm quite sure Piers Morgan is already orchestrating her recording contract.

The odd person out is probably the 14 year old girl, Julienne Irwin, who has a nice voice, but just isn't there yet. She's not quite Bianca Ryan, though I'm sure she's got the teenybopper vote behind her.

Me, I'm casting my votes for Fator.

I think hypochondriacs are among the most annoying of people.

I think...

...medications lead to other ailments instead of curing or alleviating the symptoms they are intended to help.

I think...

...that my sister mostly delights in seeing me take blows in life. She's very short on congratulations and very long on "I knew it would suck."

...this ventriloquist on America's Got Talent may well be the best singer/ventriloquist/impersonator I've ever heard.

...that if the temperature outside really does top 100 this week with this bloody 70-80% humidity, I may well melt.

Here's one before I go out of state, that I'm sure everyone will love. My son knows there is no santa. We told him. He has known for two Christmases and has never told. We have no problem with santa, we have tons of santa movies and stuff but we did not want to tell him santa was real.
I actually think it's good to teach kids that santa, toothfairy etc are real, and keep the illusion going for as long as possible. It's good training for kids to allow them to work out for themselves that not everything that they have believed for years is necessarily true. It encourages them to question other things they'll hear in the future that may be fictitious.

It would all have to start with me lying to them which is something I refuse to do. They'll get a compass eventually for crap, so I don't feel the need to use Santa. lol

i'm flattered this thread has stayed so active.
i had no idea it would go from frozen-treat-flavored cocktails to the tooth fairy and programming.
and MBI, the bottle of Booker's i'm sipping on now was a gift. it goes for about $50 for a fifth, a rare treat for me. my house brand is Very Old Barton.
