Some will be able to see this, and some won't. A full lunar eclipse is beginning right now, so if you can see the moon then go have a look now.

NZ has a box seat for it. It's been dark for 2 hours and the bottom is starting to go a reddish brown. There's a crystal clear winter night so every blip on every crater is clear.

This would have been a nice addition to the demon moon contest

When I was going to college, I dabbled quite a bit trying to find the one or two minor courses of study to take. Astronomy was one that I loved. One of my fondest memories was on a cold December night atop the Ball State Science Hall taking photos of Saturn from their super cool telescope. Early Tuesday morning, prior to moving, my friend Kennetha called to wake me and we talked our way through the eclipse. That was very cool.

I had an interesting view of the first stages when I was driving from Derby to Halls Creek in the Kimberley. Because it was still light, the first parts of the eclipse, as the moon disappeared, were quite eerie. Got a brief glimpse of the red moon later.

I was told that it was too cloudy anyway, I did see a blood red moon back in 1989 tho.

Completely red at the moment. Starts to come back in half an hour.
