Posted - 10/03/2008 : 15:07:00 A couple of months ago I submitted some of my poetry to the magazine "iota" (yes, that's the name of the publication), and forgot about it. Well, today I got an email from them telling me that my work has been shortlisted for the next issue. As you can imagine, I'm just thrilled! Even if I don't get in, it is the first things I've submitted in years and I'm shocked I got that far.
(It started out as a good day, and then, I had my bowling league and with my brand new ball, I did better than average! This IS the way to start the New Year, isn't it?)

Thanks. They said they'd let me know sometime this month, so I'm waiting patiently to hear from them again.

Would you then say that you are a poet and you didn't even know it?
Hehehe. Cute. Of course, I have been published before (and even got paid for my poems a couple of times). But I haven't submitted anything in years and haven't written anything in about as long.

Posted - 10/03/2008 : 21:45:55 My favorite poem:
There was a young man from Spokane Whose poems would never quite scan. When told this was so, He said, "Yes, I know, But I always try to get as many words into the last line as I possibly can."
That's basically my degree of erudition. Your work must be on a far more rarefied level. Congrats, Chocky!
EDIT:
A poet, too, lived on Cape Cod Whose limerick scansion was odd. He thought it was fine To end the last line Abruptly.
