Posted - 12/11/2008 : 07:41:58 Well, my husband and I had a lovely vacation, and the meetings with FWFRers (as well as another friend from another site) were among the highlights.
Returning home is always difficult, and with the Frankfurt to Tel Aviv flight doing a heavy number on my ears, I wasn't doing so well when I got home on Sunday. Then on Monday my husband went into work and was informed that he's been fired. Not a nice way to finish off a holiday, that's for certain!
(Sigh!)

Posted - 12/11/2008 : 13:17:20 My husband's job was with a software company that thankfully never went public. So it wasn't the stock market that caused the problem. The problem is that his company sells software to banks (for import-export) and if banks are closing their doors (like one of their customers did), then they don't need as many people to work QA on the program or do on-site implementation.
Their HR person wasn't happy that the manager of QA decided to fire my husband instead of someone else in the department, so they are looking for a possible different position for him outside of QA. We'll see what happens... he's still got a job until February 10 so the axe isn't coming down that quickly.
And as for the housework - I think he won't have much motivation to clean up after he's been brushed off like that.

Posted - 12/11/2008 : 10:58:16 It's happened to quite a few of my friends as well and from jobs that traditionally were safe, but the holiday combination is really unfortunate....sorry to hear that. |

Posted - 12/11/2008 : 10:57:11 So sorry to hear about your husband, CL. Is the unemployment situation in Israel going the way of the UK ... i.e. downwards?
Anyway, hope he gets back to employment soon.

Posted - 12/11/2008 : 10:35:50 Wow. My cousin and her husband came to NZ for a holiday a month ago from the UK, and as soon as they got home exactly the same happened to him. |
