Bit of shameless canvassing here, but my blog is shortlisted for two categories in the Irish Blog Awards: 'Best Arts and Culture' and 'Best Sports and Recreation'.

This stage of the process is won by votes, so if you've read de blog, and liked what you saw, I'd ask you to show your support by voting at the link below... (nb if you do decide to vote, please only vote once, as multiple voters are excluded)

Here's where you vote

And here's a link to the blog so you can check out the merchandise

Remember, if you don't vote, your voice won't be heard!

So you're not basing it on the usual Irish voting system then?

Thanks Foxy and WHL

Must've been some browser glitch first time I looked ... there was only one category of Best Blog.

Just re-visited, found the right box and HAPPILY VOTED FOR PADDY C!!!!

Slightly off topic, wasn't it an incredible stroke of luck that the person sent to convert the Irish was himself named Patrick?

"Hey, let's not kill this one, he's named Patrick just like us!"

I'm never one to miss a tangent!

St. Patrick may have been Welsh, but he ingratiated himself to the Irish by being a bit of an action hero. If there was a movie version of his life it'd be called 'Snakes in a Country', cos he did a bit of a Sam Jackson in that regard. I reckon the Irish started calling him Paddy after that. ("Get these feckin' snakes.. outa my bloody country!")
