| Exactly (although night buses are pretty good too these days). I was just in Berlin and it felt so strange to get the underground home in the middle of the night - only at the weekends, but still. |

I don't know what it is about late night buses in particular, but they seem to attract all the twats and weirdos. |

Whaaaaat! I use the night buses regularly
Actually I've used one once. I just assumed that it was because it went through Deptford and Lewisham to get to my drop-off that it was a particularly, erm.... interesting experience. Actually, scary is what it was. Spending the entire journey avoiding eye contact with, or any acknowledgement of, a bunch of offensive yobs and quietly planning which one I would go for first if it came to it. Not fun. Never done it again.
South East London is particularly badly served by the underground - ie it isn't and the last mainline train leaves Charing Cross at 11:50pm though this is an improvement on some 5 years ago when the last train was at 11:20pm.
Unless the Prince Charles shows the full Grindhouse bill before 8:00, I still won't be seeing it.

| Just seen Death Proof. I found it dragged to start with (partly because I had something on my mind to do afterwards, but then many films would have distracted me). However, I had a great series of belly laughs towards the end that I have to say made up for it. |

What Doesn't the Brixton Ritzy do that any more? I spent many a Friday and Saturday all-nighter there with my friends - including several Kung Fu movie fests. The tubes were just about running by the time we got out, but we lived in places like Camberwell and Herne Hill, so would sometimes just walk.
My last experience of night buses in London, several years ago, is that they won't stop if you are asleep in the shelter! |

Actually, it might. I'll check, possibly in about half an hour when I pass it in the night bus on my way home. I could certainly walk home from there very easily (the bottom of Tulse Hill).

They also, apparently, don't make you get off at the end of the route. I woke up outside the Brixton Academy (in the direction of Clapham Junction) when travelling from Clapham Junction to Peckham. As I wanted the last stop, I thought I could safely go to sleep.  |

| The Ritzy is my local hang-out, especially on a long Sunday of multiple viewings, and they don't do late screenings. I mean something that would start at 11 or 12 and go on till 3 or 4. With the tubes still packing up in London at midnight there's no way that'll change soon... rubbish. |

| You'd think not, but I bet it makes a difference to their box office. The Ritzy does get a wide catchment just because it's one of the few in South London that mixes blockbuster and art house. |

Now I've seen PLANET TERROR, and as underwhelmed as I was with QT's contribution -- I thought about :30 to :40 of its 2:00 was worthwhile, particularly the chase at the end -- this one's far worse. It is, quite simply, made for FANGORIA fans. If an exploding head makes you laugh, as it's supposed to in this flick, more than once, then be my guest. Shoot shoot shoot, zombies go boom boom boom, over and over and over again. Rose's machine-gun leg is cute for about :05, and there's one very good planted sight gag among her carnage.
The concept of both GRINDHOUSE features was intriguing. The execution just wasn't there [car chase notwithstanding]. The funniest thing about the whole picture was the phony logo: "R.I.P., Rodriguez International Pictures." I loved it, and settled back for an expected mind-blowing that never came about. |
