But I do have to say this. The ending???? Are they friggen serious?????? Next season is gonna be 'Weekend at Bernie's' meets 'Road Trip'.

For now...I will wait. I am so anxious to talk about it.

If what one fellow says about requiring complete inclusion, then he may end up meeting two people he has never met before, including one he had quite an interest in meeting some weeks ago.

Corker of an episode, although a lot of it seemed to become apparent (who would make it off the boat, who would pick up the castaways and where Ben was going) before it happened.

There's a whole bunch of questions I'm fearing will be swept under the carpet and we'll never have answered... What's with the black smoke? What do the special numbers mean? And what and how was the statue we saw the foot of a couple of seasons back?

I listen to the official Lost podcats and these guys leave nothing to chance - they will answer everything all of these are major enough clues to be resolved.

benj, do not tell me you knew who was in the coffin [which we found out in the very last shot of the season!].

Season 4 was a match for Season 1!!!!

Okay, no- I didn't see that coming Still, it was a bit of a cheat not using his real name, plus I could have sworn the sealed coffin we saw prior was a bit too small to contain him.

I saw the final twist coming.

It was a solid piece of story telling, true to the nature of the show. Nothing they came up with could even come close to rivalling the game-changing final scene of the Season 3 finale. Instead, the three episodes were constructed in such a way that even though the ending was inevitable, it was, nonetheless, surprising. A true sign of a good story.

I am not that bothered about revelations, to be honest. The show is about the journey, and not the destination. The subtle allusions to previous mysteries are preferable to direct solutions to the mysteries.

I love the way they are working the damnation/redemption motif: duality is an important thematic point in the show, and it's a joy seeing it featured in not just the storylines themselves, but in the sets, the music, meta-textual references, etc.

So, all in all, a great episode.

By the way, I thought for a while that Locke is in fact Jacob (this whole time-shifting gobbledegook playing into it), but I am not so sure anymore.

Also, I wonder if Matthew Abaddon is in fact a grown up Walt?

Will they have to take back Walt with them to the island, too? Because Ben OK'ed him to leave, and presumably he was talking for the island at the time.

When Kate apologised to Aaron, did she mean for taking him away from her mother? Or was she apologising to him for intending to take him back to the island?

How many times, and when, did Jeremy Bentham aka Locke come to see Jack and Kate? Has he he visited the other Oceanic Six'ers, too?

We've known he [or at least the creators] liked philosophers. Still does...

Thinking about it, the entirety of the non-flash portions of Season 4 probably took place over a period of about 5-7 days. That is the time from contacting the freighter (at the end of season 3) until it went out of the picture.

Based on Aaron's age, at least 2 perhaps 3 years have elapsed since the Oceanic Six were rescued.

We haven't seen anything that happened on the island during that stretch. Next season could be back to all flashbacks again.

Kate said something about three years having passed since they left the island, which was in mid-to-late January 2005, so when Jack is confronted by Ben in the funeral parlour, it's probably late January/early February 2008. And, yes, I am pretty sure the next season will be about the Oceanic Six's attempts (and, probably, Walt and Desmond, too) to get back to the island. I think the main narrative will have to be in the non-island world, with flashbacks to the previous three years.

Also, we are going to see all those visits Jezza Bentham paid to the Oceanic Six (and Walt). And I am almost certain that the first one will be in the season premiere.
