| I was quite impressed with Bettye LaVette, who sang "Love Reign O'er Me" during the Roger Daltry/Pete Townshend portion of the Kennedy Center Honors. I believe Daltry teared up, I know Townshend nodded continuously with an intent and impressed expression throughout her performance. It was a wow. Here is the Youtube link for her performance. |

That is quite a performance! I can only imagine how much more electrifying it would have been live.
Funny, I always thought the title was "Love Rain over Me." I never got the reign/rain thing listening to the song on the radio. I guess I should have paid closer attention.

| It is one performance I'd have loved to have attended. I thought the comment Pete Townshend made - that Barbra Streisand leaned over and asked if he'd really written that song - was interesting. I'm not sure what she meant. He seemed to take it as a compliment. |

Well, this has just made me go wow.
I took part in an ebay auction for a refurbished canon printer/scanner/copier, sold by Canon themselves. They auction off quite a few items it seems.
New it retails for about 80.
I bid, including postage, about 20, but just lost out to another bidder by about 50pence.
I then got a "second chance" offer from Canon saying I could buy it (ie another of the same model) for my bid price, which I did, and it has now arrived, courier delivered. And it looks pretty brand new to me.
Anyhow, the real wow part is that it came (naturally enough) with new ink cartridges, and I have just checked that, at internet prices, these two cartridges alone would cost 34.
So, if Canon are auctioning off more of these machines, I should bid. And as long as its less than 34 I should order it and then throw the printer away and just keep the cartridges.
Bizarre or what?

Or, re-sell the printer on eBay and, presumably, you can make back what you paid for the printer and cartridges... |

Unless the bidders realise how much the cartridges cost of course!
Then they might ask me to pay for them to take it away.
(And I'd still be better off than buying new cartridges!)
