You've got to hand it to the British. They aren't afraid of giving an unknown actor a big break - even on such a popular, high-profile show. Casting this youngster as the next Doctor Who is certainly an example of this.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I've truly enjoyed David Tennant in this show, and while I know nothing about Matt Smith, I'm sure he'll do a great job.
(Gives me something to look forward to for 2010!)

| I don't really watch it, although I did as a child. However, I don't like how the actors seem to have got younger and younger. It's rather telling about a troubling aspect of our (the West's) culture. |

But seriously, I kind of like how the actors are getting younger. Makes it more challenging to play a 900 year old Time Lord if you're only 26 in real life, doncha think?

I don't know when they came up with the idea but the whole regeneration/new actor is explained in 'Dr Who' lore by the fact that his race get younger as they adopt new bodies.

Well, there you go then!
(By the way, I wouldn't know this fact since I only saw a handful of episodes from a couple of the earlier seasons when they played on Public TV in the USA back in the 70s. While I recall thinking it was a pretty interesting series, I certainly didn't fully "get it" or enjoy it, like I do today.) |

I even think it was more interesting when you had ancient William Hartnell (the first Doctor) acting like a twenty year old!! |
