I just watched What Dreams May Come again and that has to be the saddest movie I've ever seen. I am just a mess when I watch it.
Which led me to the thought to ask you fwfr people.
What's your --

Funniest movie?

And any other categories anyone wants to add.

Saddest movie:- The Exorcist cuz Gabriel Byrne sacrificed himself to save Linda Blair
Funniest movie:- A Christmas Story
Scariest movie:- Alien
Most satisfying movie:- Blade Runner
Most watchable over and over again movie:- Conan The Destroyer because I DID have to watch it over and over again...because it was my daughter's favorite movie when she was three years old. So even though the thing isn't really very good...it grew on me.
Most numbing movie:- Seven
Most 'feelgood' movie:- Oddly enough, The Butterfly Effect
Most shocking movie:- Mad Max
Worst movie:- I can't remember the name. It was a comedy that was something to do with dwarves and Hitler. It was so sloooow that I turned it off only 10 minutes into it.
Most hunger-inducing movie:- The Grapes of Wrath (everyone was hungry)
Most thrilling movie:- The Black Stallion
Most 'this director is brilliant' movie:- Snatch
Most WTF? movie:- The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (I liked it)
Most illuminating documentary:- March of the Penguins
Most unexpected ending movie: Either, Wild Things OR Fallen OR Sixth Sense

Boo. I like What Dreams May Come. I know there is a lot of plucking of the heart strings there, but it works for me. The faucet is going throughout.
Now, Old Yeller. I haven't seen it. Can't bring myself to watch, truth be told, since I know it has that sad, sad, sad ending. I'll just take your word for it on that one. You can only imagine what a blubbering mess I'd be with Yeller, if WDMC affects me like it does.

Scariest (when I first saw it): The Exorcist
Most intriguing (can't think of another way to describe it): Fargo
Most boring: The English Patient (sorry, but I had to force myself to watch it to the end )
Funniest (on repeat viewings): Hercules Returns
Best thriller: The Lady Vanishes
Most thought-provoking: Easy Rider (sad too)
Most compelling: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Most inspiring: Lords of Dogtown
The saddest made for television movie is The Leaving of Liverpool. I can't remember a screen film that made me feel so sad for such a long time after watching it. |

Jackson's first three movies are among the funniest movies ever.
If you see Braindead, make sure it's not one of the destroyed versions. Commonly versions have been cut 20% or so. The "Runtime" and "Certification" sections on IMDb make interesting reading, it's clear which countries have no sense of humour....  The FAQ make funny reading too.

What Dreams May Come is one of the best examples of SCHMALTZ I've ever seen.
Old Yeller is the saddest movie ever. It gets that title by default because it's the only movie most guys will admit made them cry.
It's hard to imagine Halloween and Night of the Living Dead being truly terrifying, but if you put Halloween in the context of having invented every slasher movie cliche in the books, that changes everything. And Night of the Living Dead? They practically invented the MPAA rating system because of it. |

I cannot say that that movie captured my imagination but i do remember being very impressed by the "paintings scenes" and I seem to remember something about a beautiful air hostess. |

Saddest movie? Schindler's List (also the best movie ever made in my opinion)
Funniest movie? This is Spinal Tap
Scariest movie? The Shining - watched this a couple years ago with my wife and she fell asleep and I could barely stand to watch during the tricycke scene - that is one cray movie/
Most Thrilling movie? Harder category but the first film that comes to mind was Ransom - my heart rate was elevated throughout the film - maybe not the most thrilling, but certainly thrilling for a very high percentage of the film. |
