Okay folks... here's a thing...

SKY Broadcasting (for those not in the UK, it's our biggest satellite TV provider) has approached me about helping plug a new quiz show they're doing (which may or may not include a fwfr round) with one of these viral email quiz thingies. Basically, it'll get fwfr out to a lot of people who may not have heard of it before.

Ideally, I need a list of about 50 fwfrs of well-known films that you think would tease and puzzle people (i.e. some pretty straightforward, but others that would take some thought). Generally something to make them go "This is great- where can I find more?"

Let's say the deadline is Thursday evening (not that I think we'll need that long with the shameless plugging we get around here) and I'm going to suggest that initially everyone selects 5 fwfrs (your own or those of others) and we'll take it from there.

So, fire away...

Okay... suggestion box closed on these now. Thanks a million for everyone's contributions

Will make the quiz available here once I get it.

OK, if the above ones aren't quite what you had in mind , then how about...

A Few Good Men - "Jack in the box."
The World's Fastest Indian - "Hannibal the cannonball."
The Fugitive - "Dead man walking runs."
The Day After Tomorrow - "Global ice-ation."
...And Justice For All - "No justice for Al."

No naughties or unrelated-movie-title-puns there.

Here are some of mine....

Brokeback Mountain - "Buttcrack Mountin'."
Junior - "Sperminator."
Troy - "Brad pulls off Trojan."
Godfather: Part II - "Old Hyman finally pierced."
LOTR: Return of the King - "No ring. Peace."

Other's reviews:
Thelma and Louise - Women driver theories upheld.

Now, who wrote that, I wonder?

Should have known I'd get caught.
This is me with my pants down. I'm NOT mooning.

My reviews hardly ever get mentioned outside of here. But here are a few of mine that I think will go over well

"Good Bill Hunting" - Kill Bill: Vol. 1

"Mirror predicts Snow." - Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs

"Costner's to-do list." - Field of Dreams

"Disney's 'Steamy' Movie." - Steamboat Willie

"Who's The Moss." - Swamp Thing

I don't know. When you look at a group of 40 it seems impressive, but grab any 5 and my work looks lackluster.

But here are a few... not knowing what movies are "very well known" in the UK.

Groundhog Day - Get your Punxsutawney fill.
Producers, The - Wanted bomb, created fhrer.
Fatal Attraction - Glenn's bad hare day.
Deliverance - Beatty becomes bumpkin's Babe.
Island, The - Harvesting organs takes atoll.

Here are my 5 suggestions:

"Bonnie and Bonnie" for Thelma and Louise.
"Get Ricci quick scheme" for Monster.
"24/1" for Groundhog's Day
"House loses its Gable" for Gone With The Wind.
"Motel has skeleton staff" for Psycho.

Make me famous, benj.

"French teenager starts smoking" - The Messenger
"III Ill" - The Madness of King George
"Father, Son & Holocost" - Life Is Beautiful
"Zero financing charges" - The Producers

I think the current plan is to do an excel spreadsheet where you get the clue and have to type in the film name below it and it automatically tells you if you're correct or not.

I assume it's done in text format, but I would suggest that if it is a precursor to a round of a quiz show, you should use reviews which work fine in speech.

Also, how about some kind of poll as to how accessible the shortlisted reviews are? If more than one person (or perhaps even one person) here does not get a review, it is probably too obscure for a general audience. There are several posted that I do not get.

Wow, I am meant to pick just 5? How?

Well, here are a small selection of my favourites that I think might be suitable:

Messiah leaves holey Trinity - Matrix (Rovark)
Marceau just says 'No' - Silent Movie (rri1)
Said he'd be back - Terminator 2 (tfb)
Luke back in anger - Empire strikes back (Joe Blevins)
I bet Kramer wins - Kramer vs Kramer (Mguyx - can't leave off the top voted review!)
America wonders "who's Beckham" - Bend it like Beckham (Pope George)
Selfish bitch hogs float - Titanic (Mark B)
Gunners commit Mersey-cide (Chris C)

Here is another old topic that highlighted some good reviews: http://www.fwfr.com/fourum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=679&whichpage=1
