Okay folks... here's a thing...

SKY Broadcasting (for those not in the UK, it's our biggest satellite TV provider) has approached me about helping plug a new quiz show they're doing (which may or may not include a fwfr round) with one of these viral email quiz thingies. Basically, it'll get fwfr out to a lot of people who may not have heard of it before.

Ideally, I need a list of about 50 fwfrs of well-known films that you think would tease and puzzle people (i.e. some pretty straightforward, but others that would take some thought). Generally something to make them go "This is great- where can I find more?"

Let's say the deadline is Thursday evening (not that I think we'll need that long with the shameless plugging we get around here) and I'm going to suggest that initially everyone selects 5 fwfrs (your own or those of others) and we'll take it from there.

So, fire away...

I feel a little guilty about nominating my own but I really like two of my FYCs: "From Russia With Sub" (Hunt for Red October) and "Padme victim of irony" (Revenge of the Sith). The lack of attention that the latter has gotten indicates that not many are as impressed with that review as I seem to be.

I changed my mind. I don't feel guilty about it at all. But I'll come back with three more that aren't mine.

I have no shame at all. Of my highest vote getters, I'd say the ones that are for the more well known movies (both older and newer) are:

"Boleyn for concubine." - Anne Of The Thousand Days
"Sabine it for marriage!" - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
"Straight out of marriage." - Gay Divorcee
"No May, All December!" - Calendar Girls

Rosemary's Baby: Rosemary's scary minor development.

Altruistic promotion of others:
Superman: 'The Great S Cape'. by noncentz

Sounds a great opportunity! Sky's The Limit!

For this to work they have to be well-known films in the UK, so:

101 Dalmatians Pup Fiction
Kill Bill, Volume 2 Second Half, Double Bill
The Man In The White Suit Improbable yarn
Brassed Off Musical Miners Strike Accord
Birds Unsettled Bills Cause Anxiety

Eh, those were mine.

For other peoples definitely:

Supergirl It is a bird!! Obie.

I'll 'ave a go, but would reckon the viral should probably be limited to the movies with the broadest appeal, hook people with the films they'd be likely to recognize, y'know?

"Sister. Slap. Daughter. Slap" for Chinatown (Sludge)
"An unholy Friedkin masterpiece" for The Exorcist (Paddy C)
"Luke back in anger" for Empire Strikes Back (Joe Blevins)
"One knows kung fu" for the Matrix (Bennyr81)
"Welles' sled" for Citizen Kane (Paddy C)

Some shameless self-promotion at play here, but even if you don't like the reviews I've chosen Benj, these movies have loads of good ones to choose from and are so ubiquitous that they'd be more readily guessable..

Good luck with the effort!
