I acknowledge that whether to circumcise baby boys is a private decision.

I am glad that information about the benefits leaving sons intact was readily available when my son was born over 2 decades ago.

Where is my rubber band? Where is my Damn RUBBER BAND!!!?

I'll cut one from an old truck tire innertube and send it to you.

What does that mean?

It would be a really huge, very strong rubber band.

Actually, my husband makes it a practice NOT to look at other women. This is for spiritual reasons, not because he doesn't enjoy it. He says that I am enough and he doesn't want to think about other women in a sexual way. This is the point in which everyone pats me on the back and says "Okay, Tori." But it's true! He went to a seminar in February where there were other men (most of our friends and my father even went) felt the same way and there they were each handed a rubber band and given a set of instructions. It was simple...snap it whenever you see another woman dressed provocatively or when you think about another woman. At first he was hesitant to do it around me but I'm a big girl and after a discussion he felt free. And man, all I heard was snapping for several months. One day my Daddy came home after a day of errands and had a welt.

I'm glad for you that you have a husband that's so dedicated to you, but I have to admit that I am a little bit skeptical about the rubber band aversion therapy. Things like that might help you quit smoking or drinking, but the sex drive is much more powerful and deeply ingrained in the human psyche. Still, the fact that your husband is willing and happy to try this technique says a lot about his character.

Don't be so sure, GHcool. I've seen the rubber band be effective in containing all sorts of things that one wouldn't think of. And also, it's not as hard to quit sex as one might think. Smoking, on the other hand, is sometimes close to impossible.

I didn't say that I was sure it wouldn't work. I said that I was skeptical that it would work; and after Tori clarified her previous statement by saying that the rubber band was for "dwelling" (as opposed to simply admiring) other beautiful women, I think it has a fair chance at working. Also the rubber band isn't meant to quit sex altogether.

I'm reminded of one of the subjects of the fascinating documentary Trembling Before G-d who snapped a rubber band on his wrist every time he had a homosexual thought or feeling with the hope that he could train himself not to be gay. After this experiment, he said that he was still gay. The only thing the rubber band did was give him a lot of bruises on his wrist.

Oh wow that must have been horrible. :(

Oh and maybe I should clarify he certainly does not abstain from sex or anything like that.

I'm fondly remembering noncentz' reply to Tori's comment that he has 'the best stories'. Noncentz wrote, "No, your husband has the best Tory."

I love me some Noncentz!

And duh? One name for the deep sexy voiced man: Sam Elliott.
