Posted - 11/02/2007 : 17:25:02 How horrible for the Mexican people who are now, in the wake of the floods, worried the main dam near Tabasco will burst. I send hugs across the ocean to any fwfr who may have friends or relatives in Mexico.

Posted - 11/04/2007 : 08:46:30 The news is really terrible and I hope they can get back home soon. Although, from what it looks like now, their lost crops (including the chili crop) are probably going to cause a huge economic depression for the area. |

Thanks, d8h. Apparently the situation is worsening by the moment. There's now an area of Tabasco state under water which is equivalent to the land area of Belgium - some 40,000 sq km, which is mostly agricultural land. The flood waters are now totally contaminated with raw sewage and water-borne disease has already begun to spread. Over a million people are affected with estimates due to rise.
This will give you an idea of what's going on from the people themselves.

I certainly would hate for a dam full of Tabasco to burst. I even had to google it to make SURE BB was serious. |
