After 12 weeks of Poker, the season is over with the venue leaders getting a seat at the state championship. Last night was the 12th week, I was placed 6th overall and the top 5 were all present. I needed to beat all 5 and place 4th or better to get into top spot.

Here's the results of last night.

Final standings for the season.

The state final is on the 13th of Jan with first prize $10000 and entry into a bigger tournament......(not bad for a totally free weekly game). Wish me luck.

I don't watch Marilyn Monroe movies.

Life around here is interesting at the moment, to say the least. News of these murders seems to have reached most parts of the world. The third victim was found about a mile and a half from home. The last two were less than half a mile away.

For those of you who don't know, this part of England has one of the lowest crime rates in the country, and for this to have happened in such a short space of time has come as a great shock to everybody.

Sorry to hear that, Chris - sounds horrid.

I've had a pretty tough couple of days myself. On Sunday my father-in-law took my car (because it's bigger than his) so he could take four of his grandchildren (two of my kids and two others) on a Hanukkah vacation up north. As he was about to fill it up with petrol for the long ride, a truck smashed into him. Everyone was okay, thankfully, but my poor car got shmushed. They had to bus it back to Jerusalem and the tow truck got back late. Of course, there was miscommunication and the truck almost brought it to the wrong place so until I got that sorted out...

Monday I had to go with him to show the insurance people the car, get his story and then take it into the shop to be fixed. Thankfully, my insurance allows me to get a loaner car and the shop that does the car has a service for taking people to wherever they need to go. So now I'm driving a (very cute) Daihatsu Sirion until my car can be fixed.

Thing is, all this was happening while I had a small emergency at work and all sorts of arrangements needed to be made, in a last minute fashion.

Despite all this exhausting business, my husband and I did go to see Casino Royale on Monday night. It really is a wonderful film - but I don't think it will be my #1 favourite Bond film, due to a few too many niggles I had about it (including it being too long).

Chockie, you have my sympathies, but I'm glad no one was actually injured -- I know from experience that the after effects of an accident like that can surface at any time. Please tell your relatives that should they become unaccountably depressed or have unusually disturbing dreams, for example, that will be perfectly normal. Encourage them to talk about it, and, obviously, lots of hugs [and, dare I say, chocolate!]

As for CR -- so HAVE you revised your opinion of Daniel -- who, by the way, is decidedly dark-haired as Perry in Infamous!!!

Thanks - much appreciated and I assure you I have just the medicine for them all!

Well, yes and no. Despite his blonde hair, he really is a very good 00 agent. I think it could be the steely blue eyes (which I noticed they took full advantage of) which does make him more attractive than I remember him from other movies. So, yes, he is sexy, in a pale and rough sort of way. I'm afraid, however, that when he dons the tux it just didn't make him look suave - in fact, it didn't suit him (pun intended) at all. I found him far sexier when he was dirty, messy or even clean and casually dressed. However, I'm willing to let the "Bond is the world's epotime of suave" bit go, partially - for now - since we are talking about a 00 newbie. For me to totally accept him as "Bond", he'll have to grow into suave (or at least learn how to look as good in a tux as he does with or without other clothes).

As an actor, I also think that he lacks the ability to portray sexual chemistry with his Bond Girl, on-screen. This could be me and my own disappointment that Vesper was a bit too weak and wimpy (thankfully, they stopped short of putting an "Oh, James" into the script). You see, with Sean, Pierce and Roger (also a few times with Timothy, but never with George), when they kissed the girl, and sometimes, when they looked at the girl just before the kiss, I got a little flutter in my stomach. It is the romantic in me, I guess. But I'm afraid Daniel didn't give that to me even once throughout this whole film.

Still, with that last line of the film, I was hooked. I'm anxious to see how Craig does in the next movie. Anxious - hell, I can hardly wait!

(And if they cut the next film to a normal length, even better.)

Good luck, Foxy (looks like great fun), but I think you're setting up the situation to create your own luck. If memory serves me right, you're very good with statistics.

Oh... and my manager just bollocked me for working on fwfr.

During my lunch hour.

What an asshole.

It's hard to believe a couple of years back we used to play multiplayer games against each other. A year ago, I was still calling him a friend and skating with the guy.

Since he became management, it's hard to believe this is the same person anymore.

And I'm back to considering other employment opportunities again.

Needless to say, I'm writing this from the park

I missed this post when first submitted. You have my complete sympathy. My ability to work for other people and tolerate the office BS is very poor. Even worse than the overbearing supervisor is the coworker who WANTS to be a boss. I think, "Give her a damn promotion and put her damn name on the door and get it over with." I've noticed that "never" are promoted employees given any TRAINING on how to be effective supervisors. If their parenting skills are as poor as their supervisory skills, I feel sorry for their children.

Glad to hear that all survived without too many scratches.

Things here seem to be improving, slowly. Arrests have been made, but no charges brought (yet).
