Hi folks,
What song or singer really sets your teeth on edge?
If nothing springs to mind you can always check out some of these shockers.

Anyone who can't sing.

And any pop singer.

And all pop songs.

Justin Timberlake.

(Someone should tell him he's a white boy.)

There really is no contest here: Clodagh Rodgers singing "Jack In The Box" should be officially classified as a cruel and unusual punishment.

HEhehehe.

For that matter, almost anything from the early Eurovision song contests - especially Cliff Richards and entries from Spain.

But I'd say another annoying song is that damned birdy song that everyone does that dumb dance to - you know the one, I'm sure.)

How about some Canadian content?

Paul Anka--She's Having My Baby. (This is one of the few instances where I would have used the old barf smiley.)

P.S. I like Tom Petty, Bean, and I won't back down!

Celine Dion. (Spine shiver.) Urgh!

I saw a billboard for a Rock Music radio station. It read:

"We wish Celine Dion had been on the Titanic."

Me too.

EM :)

Michael Bolton, who seems to have singled-handedly expanded the category of "ham" from acting to singing.

Lemmy, Emmy I appreciate your support of Mr Petty and his bones but wouldn't they be more suited in a thread entitled
"Least Annoying Song/Singer!"

Cheekyness got the better of me

Let's not forget the Alanis Morissette song "Isn't it Ironic" which hasn't anything ironic in the lyrics whatsoever.

(Oh, yes - and Germont's aria when he comes to Violetta to convince her to leave Alfredo always annoys me. Verdi's lowest hour, by far.)

Any gimmicky or cutsie, pop-idol or soapstar/ actor's vanity project piece of crap.

The Cheeky Girls, Kelly Osborne, The St Winifreds School choir (There's No-One Quite Like Grandma), Agadoo, Birdy Song, Joe Dolce who's Shuddupa-you-face crap actually kept Ultravox off the number one spot.

As to other, more mainstream singers, all the above, Timberlake, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Mariah F---ing Carey who warbles - presumably 'cos she can't hold a note longer than 1 second, The Sugar Babes ditto, The Spice 'yeah, like we got attitude' Girls, The Darkness. Dear God stop me before I explode.

Jamie Cullen (I see a yawning Smilley but is there a barfing Smilley?)

By the way Petty's 'Full Moon Fever' and 'Into The Great Wide Open' are great driving albums but that's a whole new thread

That song really irks my sister. She's an English teacher. She says, "Like it isn't hard enough trying to teach kids what irony is. None of that is ironic. It's all just bad luck."

EM :)

I once had the good fortune to swim in Tom Petty's pool when I was a kid in summer camp. His daughter went to the same summer camp and she invited everyone over once.
