Yes, yes, but he also played Marat in the original Peter Brook production, for RSC and film. I played the Herald in M/S in college, and, after our production, listened to the RSC audio recording innumerable times. This was my Ian Richardson.

Farewell to a great & versatile actor--he had a great gift for creating *forceful* characters which still burn in our memories.
