What's your take on Godiva chocolates (which I think are waxy and far over priced)?

Bravo! You pass the test. Yes, waxy and totally overpriced, as well as with an astringent aftertaste - especially those made in their New Jersey (yes, ugh) factory. Those still made in Europe don't have that same aftertaste, and are a touch less waxy - mostly because of European standards for chocolate insisting on a much higher minimum percentage of cocoa fats than required in the USA. However, the European Godiva has almost no aftertaste at all - which also isn't good. There should be some taste left in your mouth after you swallow that reminds you of something - but Godiva's doesn't at all. In short...

Boring!

By the way, I looked up Russell Stover, and I'm afraid any company that has only one chocolate that is 70% and nothing higher is hardly what I call a gourmet manufacturer. While there are some good dark chocolates at 60% or so, the really flavourable stuff starts at 70% and higher. Also, these guys seem to pander to the American hysteria of "sugar free" and "low carb" diets, which means they're out for money, not for the artistry of the chocolate themselves. A good chocolate isn't consumed in bulk, but rather eaten in small quantities, and usually never enough to make it disturb your blood sugar so much that even a diabetic can enjoy. Plus, chocolate's natural anti-oxidents equal that of red wine, making it a very healthy treat.

Much as I like to savour my 2 squares of Lindt 70% with my mid-morning coffee.

I also like a bar of Cadbury's Fruit and Nut. Gums up your gob with all that lovely, sweet chocolateyness. Mmmmmmmmm.

If TitanPa was all nekkid and kinda accidentally got doused in warm chocolate from top to tiny toe, and kinda hopped outside and rolled around in the snow and all the chocolate brisked up into a crunch coating, he could be a brand new chocolate bar with a lovely gooey center and everyone from Hershey Pennsylvania could come over and stare and stare until they couldn't take it no more and they'd inch on over and start to lick and lick off all the chocolate and then his reputation would spread far and wide into all the corners of the warm brioche and he'd run around the region screaming 75%! at the top of his lungs and everyone would love him and he'd collapse happy in a pile of goo and songs would be written and sung forevermore. Innit?
