Truly one of the most loathsome people to capture public attention in the late 20th century, Leona Helmsley, the queen of mean, has died. The distinct displeasure that accompanies the pronounciation of her name derives from the undeserved sense of entitlement upon which she insisted throughout her conniving life.
Shrewd to a fault, the scheming socialite married her way to the top, though she demonstrated quite an acumen for cutthroat capitalism along the way. What makes her so deserving of ire is the utter remorselessness she epitomizes. She despised the poor merely for being poor. She would not have given a dime to charity if it were not for the utility of offsetting capital gains through philanthropy.
Please join me in sending wood, charcoal, and kindling to her funeral so that we might goad Satan into performing his job a little faster.  |
