I think my dreams have come true. Men's fantasys are coming true. Alicia Silverstoine bares all in a PETA ad. I think I may become a vegitarian now. Want to see for yourselves????

Strangely, for a vegetarian ad, that ad makes me want to give her some meat. Some beef perhaps.

Incidentally, I don't think she's as healthy as she makes out, and could do with my protein injection.

There are a lot of animal rights groups out there. Why celebrities lend their time to the one that runs billboards with pictures of the bodies stacked up in those piles at Auschwitz with the message that that's what you're doing if you eat meat is a mystery to me. PETA should be marginalized, not supported.

I haven't seen her looking this hot in quite some time, and if this is all a result of eating carrots, greens and protein shakes, then I approve. If only she could act.

If PETA got their way, it would be against the law to own a cat, dog or any other domestic animal. Idiots.

I've always thought of PETA as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Publicity Stunts. Animal rights is something they feel very naked about.

I live fairly close by to their corporate headquarters. They're assholes.

I hope no assholes were harmed in the making of that message

I'm with Sean and with Downtown. This ad would have had pretty much the same effect on me even if the narration promoted carnivorism.

I know, admire, and respect vegetarians and vegetarian groups, but not PETA. Their "Holocaust on your plate" campaign was obscene and so are many of their other outlandish statements. I remember hearing a talk radio show where the guy interviewed a PETA representative and asked the PETA guy to imagine a scenerio in which he was in a row boat in a lake where a human was drowning on his right side and a dog was drowning on his left side and he only had enough time to save one victim from drowning. The PETA guy couldn't answer the question because both were equally valuable. The talk show host changed it to a cat and a human. Same answer. A mouse and a human? Same answer. An ant and a human??? Same answer. The talk radio host gave up on him and so did I.

Myself, Sean, and Mr. B, too.

Both the ASPCA and The Humane Society are very reputable and I respect them, even if I don't agree with all of their mission statements.

Alicia's PETA Ad

Did you read the part on the side? It is totally obvious to me she never "met" any animals we eat, especially a turkey, since if she had, she'd know they're the stupidist animals on earth that just beg to be killed and eaten.

(Come to Kibbutz, learn why we eat animals!)

A big issue in the US over the past few years has been horse slaughter. Almost all of the slaughterhouses in the US that accepted horses have been closed, due to pressure by naive, romantic-minded activists on government legislators.

As a consequence, horses that are to be slaughtered now must endure lengthy truck hauls into Mexico or Canada. In the US, slaughter houses are heavily regulated. Think there is that kind of attention in Mexico???

A friend of mine is a federal veterinarian and part of her work is to oversee slaughter house compliance. She says that horse slaughter is a necessary part of equine population management and that it is important to allow horse slaughter in the US so that it can be regulated with the welfare of the animals in mind.

Anyhow, Chocky's comment reminded me of a conversation I had with one of my young riding lesson students:

She expressed the opinion that horse slaughter was evil. I said, "I've had horses in training that I would gladly have personally sent on a tour of Europe in a can."

All it takes it an experience with one pissy, evil, nasty, out-to-kill-you horse to convince you that not all horses are lovable and worth keeping.
