New Series
starts today on BBC Radio4 at 1.30pm. You can listen online.

This is the fiendishly difficult quiz series which commissions questions from me. See if you can guess which are mine

Or not.

Maybe someone should tell the website that this is not actually a comedy program!

As usual I have virtually no idea as to the answers, except Benny Goodman '36 probably refers to his Carnegie Hall concert, the first jazz act ever at that classical music venue - go find the album, particularly "Sing, Sing, Sing"! - and I guess Enterprise '68 refers to "Where no man has gone before..." although how its disproved!? And Moses was first to see the promised land.

And Q8 must refer to Tigers, somehow, as they're Tamil ones in Sri Lanka and Tiger Tiger burning bright.

I assume the clown is Marcel Marceau?!

If you tell me how many of the questions were yours I'll guess which ones!

If you listened to the show you'll know you've only got the tiger refs correct. I had two questions in this week ... they commission 20 per series from me, but I never know how many they wind up using or in which show.

If you missed it, I believe it's repeated - I think on Sat nite, but I'll let you know.

PS: Whippy - the BBC category is "Comedy & Quizzes"

You don't need to worry about repeats - isn't it available on-line for a week after broadcast?

And at least I got one right - that's one more than usual.

And for my next get-wrong trick, I'm going to say you were responsible for questions 1 and 2, and if one of them is wrong, then no.8. And then I give up.

Thanks for the reminder.

Actually #2 & #4 are mine.

Believe me, although I spend lotsa time researching them, it's much easier to write the questions than answer them. I'm in awe of those panellists. Though, I did get Q 7 right before they did.

I think it's Charlie Chaplin but the others escape me.

Wave what you like - you're both wrong!

I know the answer to number 6, I think.

Hm... was I supposed to reveal my answer here?

Ehud Barak was PM of Israel and in Strauss' opera "The Woman Without a Shadow" (Die Frau ohne Schatten) there's a character called Barak.

There's a direct link to the other two parts of the question -- get those and you'll get this.

Alternatively - a hint: it's not that kind of clown.

If we could get those we would have.

Anyhow Beanie, I don't know what right you have to make any guesses here.

This is "Round Britain" quiz, and if you wanted to take part, well, you should have thought about that before the Easter Rising.

Fine i know when I'm not wanted......

I'll just go and make my own Round The Republic quiz so then I can answer all my own questions.

(....it'll be somewhat shorter in a geographical sense)

Though Bafta I know what you mean about making up questions. I put on a pub quiz a couple of years ago and I looked at the questiona again a few months ago and couldn't answer half of them!!

Clemenceau's nickname was "The Tiger" and Detroit's baseball team is the Tigers.
