i don't think he wants someone who covets his job so much hanging around all the time. that would also give Bill an excuse to be around all the time, like a dude who graduated from high school cruising the parking lot two years later. "i used to go here." but i think Hillary Clinton will likely be appointed to a cabinet position if Obama wins. |

LOL. You forgot the letter jacket. He's wearing his football letter jacket even as his beer gut grows over his belt.

The more I think about this the more I'm drawn to the conclusion that the Republicans have beaten the Democrats at their own game. With this pair they're aiming for everyone. They have:-
- Old + young - Experience + freshness - Man + woman - Foreign policy experience + in touch with domestic issues/families - Toughness + mommy with kiddies
Compare McCain/Palin with Bush/Cheney and it would be hard to have a more different look. They knew people wanted 'change'. |

| All I can say is that someone so fervantly pro-life who has said she wants to change the US abortion laws just makes my skin crawl. That she's a woman makes it even worse for me. Let's not even go into how much I disagree with her about practically any other subject on the table, or how scary it would be to have her need to step up if McCain drops dead. Everything tells me it would be disasterous for the USA. And what is disasterous for the USA affects the whole world, eventually. I have never exercised my right to vote absentee for any American election since I moved to Israel, but I'm telling you, I just might do it this time, despite any reservations I have about Obama. |

What's in the country's interest and what the masses think is in the country's interest are often not the same thing. I think the Palin pick was simply to get elected.
But think back to 2000, was Dubya really the best man for president? It was clear at the time that he wasn't, and even clearer now. Picking the right man/woman for the job is a lower priority than picking the one who'll get elected. |

Well, it certainly didn't take very long for this to surface:

Frankly, I think it's a crying shame that people are completely ignoring her views on Tommy Lasorda. Here's hoping that it won't be too much longer before someone makes a YouTube video with audio that consists of "beaver roundup" repeated ad nauseum...because that is going to be AWESOME.

Here's a rather unambiguous photo of Sarah Palin.
I guess it shows that from a certain right-wing standpoint she is ready to lead!
I personally prefer this from a Google group's page: Sarah Palin is paradoxically pro-life and anti-life (supports guns, NRA, war). And you should see all the dead animals that decorate her living room!

It's times like this I wish Tina Fey was still part of the Saturday Night Live cast. Palin is a dream come true role for her...
At the debates: Fey as Palin: I had as much experience in the news as Jane Pauley did when she moved to network news. I will be prepared to deal with the people from the anchor desk, if that unfortunate event would ever occur.
Someone as Biden: Governor, I served with Jane Pauley: I knew Jane Pauley; Jane Pauley was a friend of mine. Governor, you're no Jane Pauley. |

Interesting article.
And I like this bit when she was talking about her Downs Syndrome son "I keep thinking: in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?". I just hope that someone reminds her of that quote when she spouts (as I'm sure she will) that being homosexual isn't "normal".
And yeah - Tina Fey doing her would be perfect.
(BWAHAHAHA!)

The more I'm reading, the more I'm finding paradoxes like that. She is pro-death penalty for men who rape and murder, but against abortion, for example, for a woman who is raped. I'm not following that logic. |

The biggest paradox, of course, is a State Governor who is willing to put their own natural wildlife in danger in favour of big business (i.e., oil drilling). How the hell did the people who voted for her miss that one?
(Reminds me of that old line from the VN war days: "fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity".)
