How could I forget? I own all three seasons of Bro' Town (20 episodes).

Has anyone else seen/heard of this? My guess is you'd have to be a Kiwi to get most of the jokes, although Aussies would get a fair few of them. It's totally non-PC, I love it!

We used to own the entire Friends series but we got rid of it.

Wow, all three Law & Order. That would be a lot of DVDs!! The original series began in 1990 and that's 393 episodes. Special Victim's Unit started in 1999 and that's 183 episodes. Criminal Intent started in 2001 and that's 133 episodes. That's something like 709 hours of Law & Order. If you watched it around the clock, it would take almost 2 1/2 years to see. The announcer on all three series is named Steven Zirnkilton and has done at least 90% of all the four series (includes Trial by Jury). He finally has a full credit in the cast list.

So do you prefer D'Onofrio or Chris Noth? I think that tells a lot about someone, depending on which one is preferred.

D'Onofrio all the way. I like Chris Noth but I don't like him taking Vincent's place, even if it is only part time. I liked him a lot better in the original Law and Order. I never got around to watching Trial by Jury and don't have any intention...I was a real fan of Jerry Orbach and seeing him in that would be too sad for me, I think. Not quite the "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" situation that Hepburn had with Tracy, but not fun either. :)

I record every episode of SVU and CI that come on, and I watch at least one episode a day. I love it. My big dream was to be a police officer but with my arthritis and muscle disorder there's no way I could do it. So I live vicariously through cop shows. :)

We used to own Seinfeld also but like Friends, it is on TV all the time and I just didn't watch it that much.

I rather prefer D'Onfrio myself. He brings a deeper texture to the investigation. I love his psychological musings and insights. I feel the same way about Noth. I loved him on the original series with Jerry Orbach, but that approach doesn't transfer as well to CI.

Jerry Orbach was a lovely man. His death was kind of a shock. We met him in New York 20 odd years ago when he was co-starring in Woman of the Year with Raquel Welch on Broadway. Everyone was there for Welch so he thought he'd just walk on through. He said to walk with him and we talked for about 2 blocks. He was a lot handsomer in person. He was a heck of a singer and dancer too.

There are loads that I would like: Nip/Tuck, The Line of Beauty, the Up series, Angel, Lost,...

Actually, it started out about just comedies but then I changed it to all TV shows.

We got to see Six Feet Under here for just the first two seasons and some of the third, and then it disappeared from our schedules. I'm disappointed in that, and would really like to see if it improved or deteriorated. I'd probably rent that but the rental places here are really poor with TV series.

You guys seem to have quite a few sets. All I've got is the first three seasons of "Coupling" and I really, Really, REALLY want to have the fourth one as well.

Other than that, I recorded on tape the 6-part Pride and Prejudice but I'd love to have it on DVD instead.

We're thinking about starting to collect all the seasons of "Gilmore Girls", since we've noticed we love watching the re-runs as much as the newer episodes, but that's not set in stone.

My sister's been watching the series "Rome" on her computer - since it didn't get aired here. Since I'm half way through reading the last of Colleen McCullough's last book in her Masters of Rome series, I would love to see this as well, but watching on my computer is a bit iffy.

Whoever else mentioned "West Wing" should know that the last season blew all the others totally out of the water!

And while I hope "Studio 60" continues, if it doesn't, I'll be the first in line to buy the DVD.

(Hell, I might just buy it even if it does continue.)

I note that many people doted on this series. I never watched regularly, but I did tune in to the last couple of episodes [similar to my SOPRANOS experience], and that very last one brought a tear to my eye, even though I had faint idea of the relationships. Judging from that quick look, the show must have just been superb.

EDIT: foxy, I used to own the entire TwiZ series on VHS, assiduously bought a month at a time. Then the definitive DVD editions finally came out, and I gave the VHS copies away! That was the all-time best series on television, ever.

Sorry to lead you to the Amazon US portal, but I want to warn you AGAINST a few stray episodes that have been released on DVD piecemeal. The Definitive Edition includes spanking clean transfers, interviews and commentaries, everything. Accept no substitutes!

I have been eyeing off the definitive DVD editions for the last month. I have added it to my watched items on ebay and shopping cart at Amazon hoping that my wife will see it and it may end up under the Christmas tree.

I only have the entire boxed set of ALL of The West Wing because I won it in a Channel Four promo thing. It was easily one of the best series I've ever followed, but I have to admit I haven't even taken the wrapper off the box yet. I don't know what exactly I'm waiting for ... but I suppose it's just that I never have enough spare time. But when I do ...

Spare time - yeah.

Of course, this begs the question "if you buy DVDs of TV series, when do you find time to watch them?".

Someone I once knew was fond of saying he never taped anything, since it just gave him the chance to miss it twice

I have the first four seasons of both Frasier and the West Wing. I am currently collecting The Sopranos, and will probably end up getting Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm, too. I have a relatively large dvd/video collection, and I am sure I have more tv shows, but I cannot recall at the moment.

(I have shit loads of British tv shows as well, like The Day Today, Brass Eye, Alan Partridge, The Office, The League of Gentlemen etc.)

I collect Curb, Seinfeld and Six Feet Under. Pretty much anything else I treat as disposable (I once bought the first couple of series of 24, plus the entire series of Star Trek: TNG just so I could watch them all then flog the lot on ebaY). I'll probably do the same with Monk- I love the show and character (and Tony Shalhoub as a whole is always highly watchable), but I have to admit it's pretty shallow and disposable as entertainment goes.

I think it's hard enough justifying having a massive film collection- half of which you probably never watch again, let alone seven or eight serieses (sp?) of a TV programme. It has to be something pretty amazing that you truly would want to watch in it's entirety again or something you can dip in anywhere and appreciate individually.

I forgot the top series I would like buy, which is This Life. This is probably equal in my affections to Six Feet Under, although at the opposite end of the production-values spectrum. I only haven't bought it on D.V.D. yet (I have it on video) because the last time I checked, there still wasn't a single box set of the original series plus the ten-year reunion.

With both these series, and television series in general, my reason for buying them is not because I'll necessarily watch them straight away (although I did and probably will) or again and again, but because I want to have them available for the rest of my life. Things have rather changed now, but when I first started buying videos, most films would be available for ever, while there was the risk of losing access to television programmes. And I'd still rather have a nice box set than download them from the Internet.

Ummm...sorry, but I don't follow any of those series. My "story," as my mum-in-law likes to call her soap opera, is LOST.

The original TwiZ exists outside of current television. About a third are stinkers, yes, but if anyone cued any Zone up right now, I'd sit down and watch -- and learn.
