Won't be dipping that into the queso, however.
Yes, keep the MacAweenies on the shelf.
You aren't making the Clewses ride the bus are you?
Maybe they'll just rollerblade over. |

I just got back from the LA ConFOURence. We all had a blast! It was a pleasure meeting Benj and his lovely wife, Lisa, who is a nurse that works for the National Health Service in England and confirmed nearly all of Michael Moore's points about universal health care in Sicko. MguyX and family came all the way from Long Beach and was the real host of the confourence. He was even kind enough to bring the Clewses to Hollywood and Highland! MguyX's Daughter and the future Mrs. MguyX came as well. We talked about the Clewses' travels in Thailand and New Zealand and we suggested some places they might want to see in Los Angeles while they are here. Of course, FWFR was mentioned once or twice as well. Afterwards, MguyX ordered a surprise wedding cake for the newly-wed Clewses.
Anyway, it was wonderful to meet our fearless leader and his new bride. Someone took pictures with Benj's camera. I'm sure Benj will upload them here or on Facebook soon for you all to see (although Benj admitted that he didn't understand the point of Facebook). |

MguyX could have paid for my airfare and I would have been there! Not gonna introduce him to anymore Airane types. |

Foxy, I don't know whether to get angry or to thank you: you KNOW Ariane is a time-consuming type!
As GHCool noted, it has been an absolute pleasure to meet the boss and lovely bride. And I am THRILLED to meet GHCool and Sludge in person (turns out Sludgie and I share some old neighborhood friends, and Sludge's uncle is a revered defense lawyer among L.A. lawyers, whom the future Mrs. MguyX knows and was utterly excited to chat with Sludge about). Plus, now I know why there's a "Cool" in GHCool (who came up with a one-liner that is hilarious, but is sure to get me expelled from my local sport organization if I tell it [just kidding: GHC, my instructor will get a huge kick out of it!]).
On the one hand, it's somewhat strange to speak with people in person whom I have known for so long only in cyber space. On the other hand, it's so very very refreshing to meet with such great people. I haven't the words to begin to tell you what a lovely and gracious couple our fearless leader and his bride are. And Lisa endured -- and graciously egged on -- the detailed retelling of the entire Nickelodeon kids-show catalog from MguyXette (my daughter). What a Champion (Lisa)!
If time permits, I may get a personal lesson from the skatemeister himself. (I missed out today, because we were on a speed tour of L.A. -- I think they spotted at least the "OLY" in the HOLLYWOOD sign -- replete with what I acknowledge is the most boring pointing out of damned-near every place I have ever rented in the County. Benj and Lisa: there STILL will be a test on that matter. )
And big BIG thanks to the future Mrs. MguyX for being the go-to gal in a pinch!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!! (Seems the MguyX had a bit of a run-in with some amiable but duty-bound police [my bad], but the future Mrs. swooped in and saved the day (and the car) [hey: she's a better lawyer than me, any day]). And she brought the cake! (yum!) [I have to say, however, that the look on Lisa's face when the cake came out is worth a million words. Priceless, and precious, are the first two.] I truly hope you two have and had a pleasantly memorable time in the City of Angels; we all are so very pleased that you came to visit.
Next stop: New York!
We've all enjoyed this site for quite some time. I congratulate Benj, once again, and forever, for giving us a challenging, quirky and ever-so-fun place to express ourselves -- four words @ a time (remember: symbols don't count!) -- and a place to build friendships with some very great people. THANKS BENJ!!!!!!
FOUR WORD FILM REVIEW IS THE BEST!!!!!!!
Foxy: why didn't you pick up your eight airline tickets (three for the fox-clan, three for Conan and crew, and two for the Kiwi (Sean and guest)? They were First Class, man! And I'm not sure it's refundable. Oh well, guess I'll have to trade them in on more Showgirls DVDs. |

Well, I don't know what I can really add to the comments already said, but it was great to meet MGuyX, GHCool and Sludge today. It constantly amazes me how diverse and knowledgeable FWFRers are (translation: I've yet to meet any nutters). I should add that the whole thing seemed to shoot by way too fast and it felt like I'd barely started to get to know everyone (shame we didn't make it a 7 hour meet up like with Sean).
Also a BIG thanks to MGuyX for putting up with us (or, more to the point, me) all day, arranging the cake and music (Lisa was truly touched ), risking imprisonment (kinda') when ferrying us about and for helping out when all our accommodation fell through. The skating lessons are the least I can do to thank you (but I'm still not prioritising your reviews, mind ).
Oh... and Lisa reiterated her surprise at the intelligent conversation she always gets from the FWFRers she meets. Then again, she's had nobody but me to talk to for the last 2 months, so make of that what you will |
