I guess it keeps some potential stalkers off the streets, though.

I had never heard about a Real Doll before now. I'm not really a fan of blowup dolls either, but I find them less repulsive than a Real Doll. I imagine the next phase in this technology will be something along the lines of the Jude Law character in AI: Artificial Intelligence.

Did anybody notice that the drum beat the Virginia guy is drumming is basically the same as the beat from the song "Goodbye Horses" -- the song that Buffalo Bill dances to in "Silence of the Lambs".

"Two girls, three guns,"

When I saw that it was a 46 minute clip, I thought that I just wanted to fast-forward through it. Then I had to start it over and watch it all the way through. Utterly fascinating.

But wow! You guys are just now hearing about these? They've been around for nearly 10 years. I remember a friend of mine showing me the real doll website back in 1998 (I think). Howard Stern bought one and featured it on his radio show years ago (though she wasn't much of a talker).

I'm not the real doll type, mind you, but I think that having one around my house would creep me out to no end (so Davecat will not be rooming at my abode). I'd be waiting for that one day when it suddenly becomes real and starts stabbing everyone in the neighborhood, like Chucky. Dhambala!

On a more serious note, that was fascinating. I don't want to pass judgment on those people, as humankind does many strange and varied things. But I have to imagine that an emotional attachment to such a thing cannot be overly-healthy. Family photos? My "sweetie"? I'm going to go lock my door right now, just to be on the safe side.

On the other hand, people build attachments to all sorts of inanimate objects. I guess the difference is that one wouldn't roger a necklace, or a baseball card collection. And the dolls are expensive, too! But then again, just think of all the the tabs on dinners, drinks, and birthday presents those guys are foregoing! Maybe they're onto something. (No pun intended.)

Eerily concerning as it is, with all of the great gals walking around on the planet, I don't think we're in danger yet.

"One week after filming, Jodi decided to break it off with Michael." Like who didn't see THAT coming?

I thought she was a bit rough on Michael for leaving, he only had 8 of them.

I was the same as MguyX, just wanted to watch a little and ended up watching the lot.

I had heard of them many years ago and saw the website too.
Had to find it again after seeing that film.
Here it is.
Warning: naked dolls with legs open.

This link is for Sean only.

I don't care HOW real they look, they still remind me of the joke that ends with "I bit her on the ass, she farted and flew out the window..."

The dolls are beautifully done. Looks like a good idea to me; as I've said before, I don't care what consenting adults do in private as long as they leave kids and animals the hell alone.

Edit: I wonder why the Mythbusters don't use one of these instead of their "Buster?"

Don't you mean "consenting adult" cuz I don't think the doll has actually agreed to anything.
I caught a glimpse of these when I was channel surfing and saw part of an episode of Nip/Tuck. Yikes.

Life is full of fetish thrill seekers but that's just creepy. I mean what sort of path are you walking when you get a kick out of a lifeless life size realistic doll....where do you go from there??

Well, you have to agree they are aptly named. They look really real. For real. Udududu (that was a shudder).

Back in the 70's there was a bestselling book, "Any Woman Can" by Dr. David Ruben(???) It was followed by a satire, "Any Orangutan Can:"

Q: But what if the woman wants to feel loved?
A: She can feel loved by having the dildo tell her it loves her.

Or something to that effect...my memory is foggy.
