This thread reminds me a great, very creepy horror story I read years ago about a guy and his girlfriend, who happens to be a mannequin. (NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ANDREW McCARTHY movie) I've been trying to remember the name of the story or the writer, but have a mental block on both. I read it in an anthology of the year's best sci-fi...but don't ask me the year. The writer is American and the final image of the story is the mannequin behind the wheel of a car.... does this ring any bells with anyone??

| If you were talking about a movie and not a book, I'd say you might be thinking of Sweet Spirits, aka The Red Headed Corpse, aka Sensuous Doll. |

Both "Cherry 2000" and "Sensuous Doll" sound like great films; unfortunately this is not what I was thinking of....

Didn't Bradbury's Martian Chronicles have a part where some guy made androids to keep himself company, including a 'wife' and a 'daughter?' And how about West World -- Babs' hubby and Richard Bemjamin's characters did the nasty with the whorehouse androids.
Somebody had better do an accolade based on this. I won't, too distractable. |

Hang on, duh: there are sometimes bugs in that version, which requires some sort of patch or something. |
